Fleetwood Sunday Academy Squad Vs Warton Typhoons

Warton Typhoons Vs Fleetwood Town

Result : 0 - 11

23-01-2011
Lancashire Evening Post Sunday League

This was the first Fixture in the Lancashire Evening Post League for Fleetwood since the end of October 2010 due to cup commitments and postponements and town certainly got off to a flyer.
After just Four minutes of play Fleetwood were two goals ahead. A good strikes from Jordan Wood from just inside the penalty area and an excellent finish from Henry Ogden who was playing against his old team. However credit to Warton they soon steadied the ship and threatened themselves. Fleetwood’s stand in keeper Josh Cawley had to be alert to a couple of good chances Warton created.
Although always in control, Fleetwood were for most of the half guilt of over playing and gave the ball away disappointingly. Ash McGough made it three for Fleetwood just before half time with arguably the best goal of the game with a superb volley.
During the interval the conversation from the Fleetwood management team was all about keeping things simple and moving the ball quicker and credit to the Town players they heeded the advice and the goal came.
Substitutions saw Sam Binks, Connor Eastwood and Dom Amos enter the field and the trio all contributed well to the overall performance with Binks notching two.
After the game Assistant manager Steve Kershaw said “Although the three points were important for us the performance is what we focus on at Fleetwood Town  and today we made too many silly mistakes with poor decision making with careless passing.

With Five goals Lewis Phillips was named man of the match. However praise should also be given to Ash McGough who was outstanding throughout

GalaxyFootball Lancashire League

The Reserves were back in action with there second game in as many days with Workington Town the visitors to AFC Blackpool,s ground.Town where beaten 2-0 away so are looking to take all three points in this reverse fixture.

Team News; No other than eight first team squad members was involved in this match all looking for match fitness and getting games under there belt,a trialist and three Accademy players making up the team.

On a awkward pitch Town tried to get in there stride as quickly as possible but were finding it difficult against a strong committed Workington side that proved they wern't coming all this way to lie down.Danny Hurst was called into action as early as the 7th min when he turned a Workington effort around the post..On 18 mins Jack Duggan broke the deadlock, finding himself with space to run with the ball he played a neat one two and rounded the keeper to slot home with his left foot.(1-0).

Town were now starting to get to grips with the conditions with Peter Cavannagh and John Miles running the show and it was the Miles who latched onto a Hurst clearance. He then turned his marker to fire home into the bottom corner on 38 mins (2-0).Just before the break Town increased there lead with the goal of the game on 44 mins when Danny Rowe knocked a 30 yard cross field ball to the outstanding Jamie Mullan who skipped past his marker and f returned the pass back to Rowe who then drilled it into the back of the net.(3-0).ht 3-0

Jamie Mullan was replaced at half time by Grant Dell.

On 49 mins Richard Baker fired wide of the post when put through by Miles,Workington again caused a few problems in the Town rearguard with Hurst again responding with some fine saves, Adam Sumner again proved a perfect outlet down the left with his  pace and crossing for Baker at the far post but his header agian went wide.On 70 mins Danny Rowe was replaced by Ben Duffield and within minutes of coming on  slotted in Towns fourth on 75 mins after a superb combinationl between Miles and Dell who then squared the ball to Duffield (4-0)

Adam Sumner was replaced on 78 mins by Ollie Corolla after a impressive performance,Liam Wynn was a driving force for Town throughout and certainly relishes playing with the more experience players alongside him,and it was Wynn who provided the telling ball for Towns fifth on 77 mins when Baker slotted past the advancing keeper (5-0) On the stroke of full time Miles finished off a great move involving Duffield and Dell with the latter slipping in Miles who made no mistake.(6-0) FT 6-0

Summary; After a tricky start Town ran out comfortable winners with everyone having a good workout, with the inclusion of first team squad members being avaliable either coming back from long term injury or just to keep match fit it is certainly paying off for the younger members of the reserve team as there game is improving by the match.
