Fleetwood Town Youth Vs Macclesfield Town Youth

Macclesfield Town Vs Fleetwood Town

Result : 4 - 1

FA Youth Cup 1st Round

Fleetwood Town bow out of the FA Youth Cup in the first round at the hands of Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose Stadium.

The hosts showed their intensions from the kick off by moving the ball forward quickly and this was the style of play throughout the game. With both Towns centre half dealing with the initial pressure. Town found it difficult to get a hold of the ball and show the style of play that has seen them through to this round.  Macclesfield looked dangerous on the counter attack and it was from a miss placed pass that saw them break with runners from midfield, with a calm finish Town found themselves one down.  Five minutes later and with the same movement Macclesfield made it two. Town looked shaken as both goals could of been prevented.
The scoreline remained the same till half time.

Town came out for the second half and took the game to Mac with some good passages of play and strong defensive work. For the first 15 mins Town kept the ball well and moved it around the pitch finding opening and gaining opportunities. This hard work was repaid when from a corner Moulding found the head of Duggan to reduce the score. Town continued to produce some good football going forward. It was a lapse of concentration in defense that allowed Mac in for the third which could be said to be against the run of play.  With ten minutes remaining and an unnecessary foul committed on the edge of the area, the Mac captain made it four with a low driven strike. Town pressed further but it was all to no avail and on the final whistle and a scoreline of 4-1 the run in the cup was over for another season.

The players should be proud of themselves to of made it through to the 1st round proper of the cup and in their individual and team performance especially in the second period of the game. The coaching staff have great pride in all the players and their attitude and continuing development. This game will only make the players stronger and we will see this in forthcoming fixtures.
